  1. Fire Prevention Safety Month

    The Kinston Department of Fire & Rescue prides itself on doing its best to keep the citizens of Kinston Informed. The Nation recognizes Fire Prevention Safety Week the second week in October every. We go a step further and recognize the whole month of October as Fire Prevention Safety Month. During Fire Safety Week we will be planning our annual Fire Station Open House at Kinston Station 1 ( Main Station) to all of the kids of the Lenoir County Public Schools from Pre-K to First Grade. We teach fire safety to any and all groups from 1 - 99 years old. We provide lectures, safety pre-planning, safety fire checks within the homes, smoke detector checks/installation within the homes, puppet shows for the children, Fire Station Tours, equipment/apparatus displays and more. To schedule a time to have the Firefighters come and talk to your group/class or if you wish to tour the Fire Stations feel free to contact the Administration Captain to set up your times or register on-line.

  2. Kinston Department of Fire & Rescue Open House

    October 9, 2017 - October 13, 2017

    Kinston Department of Fire & Rescue are annually hosting the children of the Lenoir County Public School System from the grades of Pre-K to First Grade to an Open House, where the children learn various fire prevention themes during a multi station program where the children receive an approximate 10 minute presentation at a particular area along 12 learning stations, to include fun, games, snacks and friends. 12 Learning Stations include: 1. A Puppet Show 2. Stop Drop and Roll (interaction) 3. Firefighters in Fire Gear 4. Station Tour 5. Dancing with Mascots (Sparky/Fire Pup, Smokey the Bear, McGruff/Crime Dog, Sweet Frogs, Wood Duck, Chick-Fil-A Cow, Piggly Wiggly Pig and Roller Roo) 6. Police Department Safety (Vehicle Demo) 7. Emergency Medical Services (Vehicle Demo) 8. National Forestry Ranger Services and Guests (Vehicle Demo) 8. Parks and Recreation Games 9. Snacks and Drinks (handout) 10. Kinston Fire Ladder Truck Display/Fire Tools 11. Spray the Fire Hose 12.
