KPD Arrests Suspect in Arson Investigation at Carver CourtsOn January 22, 2026, at approximately 8:09 a.m., officers with the Kinston Police Department’s A-Squad were requested to assist the Kinston Fire Department with a vehicle fire in the parking lot of Carver Courts.Upon arrival, officers located the vehicle owner inside the vehicle attempting to retrieve personal belongings. Kinston Fire Department personnel responded and successfully extinguished the fire.Following the incident, officers, with assistance from KPD’s Investigations Division, determined the fire was intentionally set and identified two former domestic partners of the victim as suspects.Investigators identified 36-year-old Holly Richards and 25-year-old Ashley Baker as the individuals responsible. Richards was located and taken into custody and charged with the following offenses:• Felony Conspiracy• Burning Personal Property• Littering Hazardous WasteRichards was placed in the Lenoir County Jail under a secured bond.Officers have been unable to locate Ashley Baker. Warrants have been obtained for her arrest on the following charges:• Burning Personal Property (Felony)• Felony Conspiracy• Littering (Felony)• Burn Without a Watchman (Misdemeanor)Do not attempt to contact or apprehend this individual yourself.

Kinston Police Department Executes Search Warrants, Seizes Marijuana, Firearm, Cash, and Other ContrabandOn August 13, 2025, detectives with the Kinston Police Department’s Violent Crime Action Team (VCAT), assisted by the North Carolina Alcohol Law Enforcement (ALE), executed a search warrant at 1404 Old Snow Hill Road.Inside the business, investigators located approximately over 70 grams of marijuana, digital scales, packaging materials, a handgun, and $362 in U.S. currencyAt the time of the search, Kamal Alzanam, 36, of Kinston, was behind the register with the items located. Alzanam is a convicted felon and prohibited from possessing a firearm.Alzanam was taken into custody and charged with:-Felony Possession of Marijuana-Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon-Possession With Intent to Sell or Deliver (PWISD) Marijuana-Possession of Drug Paraphernalia-Sell/Deliver Marijuana-Felony Conspiracy to Sell/Deliver Marijuana (3 counts)On August 14, 2025, detectives with KPD’s VCAT Unit, in conjunction with Lenoir County ABC Officers and the Lenoir County Narcotics Unit, executed a second search warrant in the 1400 block of St. James Place. This warrant was obtained as part of the ongoing investigation into the illegal distribution of marijuana related to 1404 Old Snow Hill Road (U.S. Mini Mart).During the search of the residence, investigators located:-Multiple handgun magazines-$106,320.00 in U.S. currency-Approximately 5.5 pounds of marijuana edibles-Passports and identification documentsDetectives have obtained warrants on Abdullah Ahmed and Ehab Abdulla for multiple counts of Sell/Deliver Marijuana and Felony Conspiracy.This remains an ongoing investigation. Additional charges may be forthcoming.

MEDIA RELEASE: WANTED - 1st Degree Murder
*** CASE UPDATE ***Bryson Jamel Bradley, 21, is indicted on one count of first-degree murder, four counts of attempted first-degree murder, three counts of discharging a weapon into an occupied property, and four counts of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill.
Bradley and a co-defendant are alleged to have driven Bradley’s stepfather’s vehicle on Sept. 20, 2024, to a residence in the 300 block of South McDaniels Street where Bradley fired a rifle multiple times at a group of people sitting on the front porch.
Kinston police responded to the report of shots fired and discovered two victims with apparent gunshot wounds. One victim died from the gunshot wounds and the other was transported to a local hospital and received treatment.
Police later recovered the vehicle near Bradley’s residence, but did not locate Bradley. His co-defendant was located and arrested.
Bradley stands 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighs approximately 160 pounds. He has brown eyes and black hair. He also has tattoos on his neck and one on his right forearm that reads “FAMILY.” He should be considered armed and dangerous.

Upon arrival, officers located two individuals who were suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Lenoir County EMS was called to the scene, and both victims were transported to UNC Lenoir for treatment. While en route to the hospital, one of the victims, Korie Williams, 25, of Kinston, was pronounced deceased, and the second victim, Yameek Coward, 18, of Kinston, was transferred to ECU Health for treatment. Kinston Police Department Investigators responded to the scene and are currently following up on leads.The Kinston Police Department places the highest priority on investigating crimes of violence perpetrated in our city.
