School Resource Officers

The Kinston Police Department’s School Resource Officers (SROs) are sworn law enforcement officers assigned to work full-time within our local schools. Their primary mission is to ensure a safe and secure learning environment while fostering positive relationships between students, staff, and law enforcement.

KPD SROs serve as law enforcement officials, mentors, and educators. They work closely with school administrators to address safety concerns, prevent criminal activity, and respond to emergencies. Beyond enforcement, our SROs engage with students through classroom presentations, conflict resolution, and youth-focused outreach programs.

By promoting respect, accountability, and community trust, KPD’s School Resource Officers play a vital role in supporting student success both inside and outside the classroom.
