**CASE UPDATE**
Kinston Police Department detectives have obtained warrants for 25-year-old Drejon Hall in connection with the murder of Dishon Blount.

**CASE UPDATE**


Kinston Police Department – Murder Warrant Issued

A 20-year-old suspect has been arrested in connection with the murder of Dishon Bount that occurred on Sept. 6 on E. Bright Street, according to the Kinston Police Department.

Officers responded to reports of gunfire just before midnight on Saturday at 500 Bright Street, located a short distance from the police department. Upon arrival, they discovered Dishon Blount, who had been shot multiple times. Despite efforts by first responders, Blount succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

KPD Detectives obtained warrants for Jataves Ellison, 20, following an investigation. Ellison was arrested without incident on Sept. 18.

Homicide Investigation – East Bright Street 
On Saturday, September 6th, 2025, at approximately 11:50 pm, Kinston Police Officers responded to the 500 Block of E. Bright St., Kinston, in reference to a report of a subject that had been shot. Officers arrived on scene and located the victim, Dishon Blount, who was suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Officers rendered aid to Mr. Blount in an effort to save his life, but were unsuccessful, and he died at the scene. After the shooting, the assailant(s) fled the area. Members of the Kinston Police Department's Investigations Division are following up on leads for this case. We ask anyone with information to come forward. 

Kinston Police Department detectives and crime scene personnel responded and are actively investigating this incident.
